I had my last cigarette exactly a year ago today. Katie and I started dating exactly 3 years ago yesterday. Damn, time flies when you're having fun yo...

Anyway, the semester is slowly coming to an end and thank JESUS! This one's been pretty hard, between organic chem and all those philosophy papers I felt like I was going to explode sometimes. I'm pretty excited for next semester though. It should be plenty of work, but hopefully not nearly as rough as this semester. I'm taking:

- Development across the lifespan
- Organic chemistry II
- Themes in biology
- Design & analysis in psychology

During the summer coming up I'm doing cancer research at St. Vincent's Hospital in NYC. I'm going to be analyzing cancerous tissue for genetic biomarkers that can be used to detect and diagnose pancreatic cancer early... and getting 4 credits at TCNJ for it. I went into the city to meet the guy I'll be working with and it seems like it'll be a lot of fun and an overall good experience for me.

In august I'm going to North Carolina with my family, a few family friends, and katie. I can't wait for that, I love getting wasted on the beach and in the swimming pool after dusk. Thats the only thing the shores good for... getting wasted and doing things like fishing off the pier and walking on the beach with katie pies. I think I'm going on vacation with her somewhere in the summer also... possibly Aruba, which would be awesome because ive never been there!

I'm also going to be starting a cover band with Berman. Hopefully we have a lot of fun with that. There's talk about a D@B show coming up too, I think we're all more than ready to get together one last time and just play our hearts out. I heard jeph's in italy, maybe we can have a song in italian or something.

I can't believe junior year of college is coming so soon. I feel like it's too soon to be half over, but at the same time it feels good to be just a little closer to graduation. I'll be taking the MCAT next spring, ahHhhh!! Oh, and I'm pretty sure I'll be picking up a minor in philosophy somewhere along the line

I'm going with my dad to a concert in August... Ratdog is opening for the Allman Brothers. Should be pretty fucking awesome!

Cant wait for summer...

Good luck with finals everyone!

It's been a looooonnnng time since i've written in my LJ, damn, i sorta miss it. Anyway, I've decided to escape from my schoolwork for just a few minutes to keep things up to date here.

This school year has been pretty ausome so far. TCNJ is definitely a change from the big apple, but I just love going to school here and it's a change for the better I think. The work here is pretty hard sometimes, but I manage to do it all and have fun at the same time... hell yeah. This semester I've got Biopsychology (reallllly realllly cool, attention to all psych majors: take biopsych!), I've got Philosophy (its a pretty sick intro class, its honors which means a lot of work but its work thats usually fun doing), I've got Physics II (I love physics haha), and I've got Organic Chemistry I (ahhhHHhhhHhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!). I like TCNJ but I want to move back to New York again after college though, I just really like living there... maybe for grad school i think.

I saw my first surgery, up close and personal! Over winter break I went with my mom to her job (she's the manager of the pancreatic ctr. at St. Vincent's Hospital in the village, NYC) and because she's so friendly with everyone, all the doctors love her and they let me stand in the OR to watch some lady get her liver operated on, and some other lady have something done with her pancreas. It was about 5 hours in total of standing up watching, but it was so cool!! I think that job is definitely for me. I actaully might have a summer internship there and all, here's hoping.

Over the winter break katie and I saw kim for christmas and stuff. It was so awesome to see her and hangout with her again, I can't wait until she comes back for good. She graduates highschool this month or next month I think depending on how long it takes her to finish the rest of her Sr. year's school work... Go kim!

I made wine. Three weeks ago, my roommate and I mixed sugar, yeast, smashed grapes, and water into a big gallon water jug and let it sit under my bed to ferment. Last night we took it out, bottled it, and we ended up with about 3 and 3/4 bottles so we drank the rest of the last one and let friends try it and stuff. The other 3 still need some time sit and robust, but give it another 2 weeks or so and it's going to be sooo good haha. It actually tasted a lot like wine you'd buy at a store, and it was reaaallllly alcoholic too which was pretty cool.

I'm coming home for the weekend to relax.

The time has come for me to begin working on my TWO philosophy papers due tomorrow (did I say I work in that class was usually fun?? I take that back)

P.S. Good luck to the Wayne Hills FENCING team! I heard they're kicking ass this year

You know that sense of lonliness you get when it seems like everyone else has their own friends, and their own cliques, and even though noone necessarily hates you, it just seems like you have to try a whole lot harder than anyone else to feel accepted? I don't know, maybe that was just me. Anyway, that feeling lasted until lunch, when we were all herded like cattle into that big damn room and had to scatter to sit next to anyone we knew, anyone. Thats when I first met Fava, there, in the lunchroom. Him, Kevin Coppola, Berman, Carmelo, and I (if I can remember correctly) all happened to sit together on that first day, and from the minute I began to become friendly with the kid I just knew the year wasn't going to suck nearly as bad as I thought. I'm not even going to describe how his enthusiam, humor, and just overall lighthearted-ness work together to just somehow make you feel like there's nothing to worry about; you would have had to witness it for yourself (the people who knew him know what I mean). He may had moved his lunch table since then, and I'm not even sure if he remembers that first day, but that just means he did someone a good deed without even realizing it.

I never really became close with Fava, but in highschool I smiled with joy whenever I found out he was in one of my classes, and I think everyone did. He made the day so much easier with his sense of humor and his sarcasm, and I was reminded often that maybe I was taking myself a little too seriously. Always willing to make others laugh at his very own expense, Fava was just a great kid, and I don't think there's any other way to put it.

This world is not fair, because if it was this would not have happened. Why Fava? What did he do to deserve this? I must have asked myself that about one hundred times today. Some things just seem so arbitrary, and it sucks because thats the way it works, and it's never going to change.

R.I.P. Fava, You'll Be Missed

P.S. I'll never forget the hours of fun duct-taping each others' locks shut provided our 1st period computer class with ;)

I didn't want to be there for 6 days so i only went by the ocean life, north american mammals, african mammals, and dinosaurs.

Then I went for my walk into Central park and came across a monument that I thought was fitting for my essay. I'ts called the Belvedere Tower and it houses something called the "New York Meteorological Observatory." The tower is now apparently owned by the United States Weather Bureau. I don't know what they really do with this thing, but there sure were a lot of people up there watching all kinds of birds.

When I went in the tower there was a lady cleaning a turtle tank, so i asked her if she could hold the turtle for me while i took a picture of it

A path through central park

This is the plaque on a wall of the Belvedere Tower

After i was finished taking notes and stuff, I went to the nearby Dakota.

Its a really freeekin big hotel

I asked the door man if he knew exactly where John Lennon was shot, and he pointed me to the dreaded chunk of sidewalk :(

I asked the guy where the shrine for Lennon was and he pointed me back into Central Park...

"IMAGINE"

Before I left Strawberry Fields i asked this guy rolling a cigarette and drinking beer if i could take a picture of him, and he told me it would cost me $20!
